Season for Passion - Lee Manning (Manning Lee Stokes) (1951.Popular Library 341) cover Rudolph Belarski (Darwin Edit)

Rudolph Belarski, 1951.

Lee Manning here must certainly be Manning Lee Stokes who had a long career spanning from the pulps to decades of paperbacks along with entries in the men's adventure magazines.

His most notable work might be The Case of the Winking Buddha (together with artist Charles Raab) which, together with It Rhymes With Lust, are identified as early experiments in the graphic novel from Archer St. John.

Manning Lee Stokes later wrote in the Nick Carter Killmaster series, uncredited, as so many authors have done in building the Nick Carter name. He also did entries in the John Eagle "Expeditor" series as Paul Edwards, the first eight books in the Richard Blade series as Jeffrey Lord, eleven books as Ken Stanton in the Aquanauts series, romances as Bernice Ludwell, and a fair amount of "sleaze" as Kermit Welles.
