Scoop 1941-10 cover (Darwin Edit)

A blazing yellow V in defiance of the Nazi occupation shortly before Pearl Harbor when America was still on the fence.

Dan Gillmor and Lev Gleason's Friday, a left-leaning slick designed as an alternative to Time failed miserably losing more than a million dollars in less than a year. The title was changed to Scoop, and the format changed to a pulpier photo magazine with more tabloid content, but the publishers were still calling out those sympathetic to Hitler, Mussolini, and Franco within the U S of A.
