Chooli

Chooli is a Navajo (Diné) girl's name meaning Mountain. The Navajo Nation occupies portions of northeastern Arizona, northwestern New Mexico, and southeastern Utah. The seat of government is located in Window Rock, Arizona. It is not at all uncommon to meet people with Navajo names here in Utah.

This particular mountain is called Timpanogos after the tribe that inhabited this part of Utah. In 1849 Mormon settlers invaded Utah Valley and established Fort Utah (now Provo) on the sacred grounds of the Timpanogos Fish Festival and near the Timpanogos village on Provo River. As you might guess it did not go well for the Timpanogos or for that mater, the Navajo either.
