Red Sandstone Pillar

Kane Springs sandstone pillars, Grand County, Utah.

Kane Springs was a major water stop on the Old Spanish Trail (Viejo Sendero Español), an important trade route from settlements around what is now Santa Fe, NM to Los Angeles, CA. The 700+ mile trail was used by hundreds of pack trains until as late as 1855. The spring is still an important water source for the area around Moab, Utah.
