Rollin' Downgrade at Ross Peak

Deep in the Selkirk Mountains, heavy flock coats the trees as the darkness slowly lifts at Ross Peak finding CPKC train 105 drifting downgrade from Rogers Pass through the freshly falling snow.

The train has just exited the 9.1 mile Mount MacDonald Tunnel, built to ease westbound traffic through Rogers Pass, which significantly reduces the grade for them, while the Connaught Tunnel handles the eastbound traffic. The doubletrack segments on the west side of the pass are named after their respective tunnels, signal 900M here being the MacDonald track and 900C the Connaught track.
