Le pont de la Légende :
This fortified bridge has been called "Legendary Bridge" since in 1170, Queen Sancie, widow of Gaston V, Viscount of Béarn, was accused by public rumor of having killed her newborn child.
She is to be tried by the judgement of God by water
She is led onto the bridge in a white dress, her feet and hands bound. In front of three thousand people, she is thrown into the water… A loud cry! She disappears… but the current gently pushes her to the shore at “three arrowshots”. Sancie is alive, Sancie is innocent!
