Menu Design Page #1 Final:
I designed this menu in my typography class in 2023 using the InDesign software program. The assignment objective was to redesign an existing menu for your favorite restaurant that has to be two pages long while focusing on having the appropriate font and font placement to match the aesthetic of the restaurant while appearing cohesive along the other non-text features of the menu.
I chose the restaurant Sweet Honey. It is a chain restaurant based in Hong Kong, China, and currently there are a few Sweet Honey Dessert places in the west coast, and perhaps even other parts of the U.S. They sell sweet boba and tea drinks, savory snacks, and sweet desserts. The original menus is way too long, (24 pages long) so as I had to make my menu two pages long, I placed some of my favorite food items or delicious-looking food items I have yet to try.
I wanted my menu to feature lots of pictures to show off the colorful food and drinks which look very appealing, so I made the menu’s background color and the text color simplistic to contrast with the maximalistic images well. The font I used for the menu is also modern to match the modern vibe of the restaurant. I also was allowed to change the prices of the menu items in a way that I as a consumer felt they should be, so I did so.
