A 7 Fill
You Say Tomato, I Say Tomato
by Channa Puhrmann
I was having some trouble finding a subject for my fill photo assignment during the blizzard when I decided to take a break and look for something to eat. I saw my tomatoes on the counter and thought, those almost look too good to eat. Lightbulb moment. I had picked up 2 pieces of white foam core at the beginning of class so I used one to set the tomatoes on. I used the other one as my fill card on the right. I used a filtered work light on the left (I draped my curtain over the work light). In editing I brightened up the reds and greens and turned up the saturation a bit. I also adjusted the whites and turned the dial a bit to the cool side to remove the yellow/tan color the original background ended up having. I like the spreading green vines and the round bright red tomatoes. It is eye-catching and vibrant. Maybe I could have sprayed a little water on them to make them glisten with freshness.
