A7 Mirror
For this project, I wanted to encapsulate a dark, moody atmosphere, hoping to enrapture the audience in the strangeness of this image idea. I have always found mirrors to be somewhat eerie. Even if it is a trope in horror films for mirrors to be a source of evil or ghostly happenings, I still feel as if on a psychological, primal level, it is still a mild paranoia that people have. That's why I decided to take an image in my bathroom with all the lights off, except for an electric lamp and a small, handheld flashlight.
I put the flashlight on a strobe setting and the lamp on a medium luminance setting so that the image would contain that otherworldly atmosphere I was trying to brew.
I tried to make the image quality more focused by turning the highlights up to 60+ and the whites up to 23+. I also turned down the clarity, because if I turned it up, the image would be a lot darker. I also increased the dehaze by 61+ so that the image wasn't nauseatingly fuzzy.
I feel this image could have been increasingly improved upon by taking a mirror outside and letting the natural sunshine bounce off of the mirror onto objects that would have better reflected and balanced the light going through them.
