Saint Columba 521AD, Iona Abbey, Scotland
Saint Columba is accredited with spreading the Christian faith throughout Scotland. He founded a monastery on the Isle of Iona after he arrived in 563 with 12 companions. He was originally from Gartan, County Donegal, Ireland, where he also established several monasteries. I wandered around the abbey in Iona imagining what it might have been like 1500 years ago.
