Redbase Jezebel / Delias pasithoe / 報喜斑粉蝶 [Explore]

The Redbase Jezebel is a medium-sized butterfly of the family Pieridae, aka the “yellows and whites.” The species is found in South China, and parts of South Asia and Southeast Asia.

 

This is a common winter butterfly in Hong Kong, and can be found in almost every environment, ranging from urban to rural, from coastal to mountain, from agricultural to wetland. During milder winters, population numbers of this butterfly can explode in Hong Kong.

 

This particular specimen has a slightly damaged right wing.
