Honda CR-X - del Sol

Didn’t know much about this Honda so checked online: Honda CR-X del Sol, Honda’s compact two-seater targa-top sports car produced between 1992 and 1998. Finished in a vibrant metallic blue, this particular model exudes the playful yet sporty character that made the del Sol such an iconic 1990s machine. Its low-slung stance, pop-up headlights replaced here with fixed lamps, and short wheelbase design emphasize agility and fun.

The del Sol was based on the Honda Civic platform but offered a unique removable roof panel that transformed it from a snug coupé into an open-air roadster. This car carries the characteristic rounded front fascia with large oval headlamps, slim grille, and Honda’s classic badge at the center. Subtle curves define the bonnet and front bumper, while the sculpted side panels and compact rear echo the light, aerodynamic styling language of the era.

The car pictured shows some character from use, with a protective cover draped across the bonnet and roofline — a sign of care for a rare survivor of its generation. Its alloy wheels, subtle rear spoiler, and distinct two-door profile highlight its sporty DNA. Known for nimble handling, rev-happy engines, and a fun-to-drive personality, the Honda CR-X del Sol remains a cult favourite among enthusiasts of Japanese imports and 1990s classics. Also a quick look and it states that this car was manufactured in 1992 but first registered in 1999? Strange?
