Le tango argentin
Le tango, comme genre musical, est né à la fin du XIXe siècle dans une Buenos Aires en pleine croissance, qui accueille les immigrants européens par bateaux entiers. À cette époque, on joue de la habanera, grandie à Cuba à partir de la contredanse européenne, de la guajira, du tango flamenco, du fandango… Les descendants d’esclaves africains ont gardé leurs rythmes de tambour dans le candombe.
L’enracinement dans ce nouveau pays qu’est l’Argentine aboutit à une fusion musicale qui engendre la milonga, au rythme enlevé, puis le tango.
Tango, as a musical genre, was born at the end of the 19th century in a rapidly growing Buenos Aires, which welcomed boatloads of European immigrants. At that time, the habanera, which had evolved in Cuba from the European contradance, was played, along with the guajira, flamenco tango, and fandango. The descendants of African slaves retained their drum rhythms in the candombe. Their roots in this new country of Argentina led to a musical fusion that gave rise to the lively milonga, and later to the tango.
