Smith Rock in a snow storm

Easily one of the most challenging photos I've taken in my relatively brief photographic experience. Fog had not totally lifted by late afternoon and snow was continuing to fall. It felt like my fingers had fallen off (slight exaggeration) in the sub-freezing temps while mounting the camera and lens to the tripod. The challenge, however, came in deciding how to capture this rather magical scene. As a C.S. Lewis and J.R.R Tolkien fan, whose mythical prose paint vivid, even startling images, I let my imagination loose. What it came up with was a high-key attempt (Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 lens on a Nikon D750, ISO 160, 24mm, f/4, 0.8sec): Over exposed in the camera. Back in the comfort of my den with a cup of hot chocolate close at hand, I processed my images through Lightroom and came up with what you see here. Yes, I took artistic license, that kind of license, though, I think Lewis and Tolkien would have relished.

Thank you so much for viewing. I really appreciate your kind and helpful comments! They mean a lot. Best to each of you!
