General Gheorghe Avramescu
The oddly liveried 60-1156 of the national Romanian operator CFR Călători was on its way with the international regional train R 6813 from Satu Mare to Valea lui Mihai / Debrecen, as our group photographed it upon departure from the weirdly named station General Gheorghe Avramescu.
The tiny station is located in Ghilvaci, a village near Satu Mare in North-Western Romania. It is directly named after a Romanian general, who fought during WW1 and WW2 (in the latter case - on both sides of the war). It remains a mystery to me, why the station was named that way, as the general has seemingly no conntection to the region.
