The first train

As promised in yesterday's post, I would like to present you the first train to the cement transloading facility at Gdańsk Osowa ran by Cargoway... halfway.

A keen eye will notice the fact, that the last CTL train was hauled with the use of two SM42 locomotives and this one on head has an SM42 and a TEM2 with the same train length. The use of a heavier locomotive at the front however wasn't done as a precaution, but rather as an emergency. That is due to the fact that Cargoway - not taking into account the very challenging uphill route ahead of its train - only decided to attach one SM42 to it before heading away towards Gdańsk Osowa.

As it turned out, the train had stalled after 8 kilometers of incline with an average 1.3% value and blocked one of the tracks. TEM2-234, which was in Gdańsk Osowa that day, was dispatched to help haul the train up the hill. After more than an hour of standstill on track 2 near the stop Gdynia Karwiny, the train TMS 554080 Gdynia Port GT 1-33 - Gdańsk Osowa Grupa Ożarów was pulled back up, and I managed to picture it as it was passing the station Gdynia Wielki Kack, with TEM2-234 of the Kotlarnia Sand Mine (here working for the company FDM Rail) on the front and SM42-387 of Cargoway right behind it. I was lucky that the train ran in the very last rays of sunlight.

I also have a picture from before the train had stalled and I will most likely show it in the near future.
