Border station Róg
Earlier I described how the border impacted the railway Lipusz - Bytów. It's now time to show something from the border station itself.
Róg used to be the border station, where the line from Lipusz terminated. Its German name, which it had carried for the first 40 or so years of its existance, was Sonnenwalde (Kreis Bütow). The Polish name is way more compact and just means 'horn', or 'corner'.
It certainly is a nice corner in Kashubia. Surrounded by fields which are left after the local forests had been destroyed in 2017.
Currently it is very peaceful, as barely any trains pass throgh here. The station buildings have of course been repurposed and now live on as normal housing with gardens just like the one on the picture right on the trackside. The SM42-2622 right near it is passing the eastern side of the ex-border station as it's heading to Lipusz as a light engine for the second part of a loaded cement train for PREFABET in Osława-Dąbrowa. It is so peaceful here that you would never think that this once used to be a relatively important line with a very stormy history.
