Industrial 'Fluier'

6.07 was declared as a day of rest for our family, having hiked to Toaca on the previous day. For us, a day of rest equals a day of chasing trains and so we made our way from Piatra Neamț to Bicaz. As luck would have it, a train of covered wagons was waiting for us at the railway station in Bicaz, on the head of which was 60-1652, preparing for departure towards the Tașca cement plant.

We then chased the train and decided to use the opprotunity to photograph it on a spot relatively rarely used by locomotives. We especially liked it because of the old semaphore signal and the visible main gate to the Tașca cement factory. The 60-1652 was making its way from the facility towards the dropoff/pickup point for trains to/from the quarry at Bicaz Chei.

We noticed a very interesting feature about this particular class 60 locomotive - it is the only one of the entire Heidelbercement România fleet to have no elongated bumps in the metal of the side walls, which increase structural integrity. Simmilarly, none of the original PKP ST43 locomotives had them and it seems like they are only a feature in locomotives of the later production series.
