The dream shot

218.425 rushes out of Klanxbüll with the evening IC 2374 train from Stuttgart to Westerland auf Sylt. The locomotive still carries a yellow triangle on the cowcatcher - a very characteristic feature of locomotives from the depot in Kempten.

You might have seen a very simmilar picture posted on our page by my dad, but here's my take on it.

Since the very beginnings of my interest in the Marschbahn I was especially drawn in by the mechanical semaphore signals on most of the railway line. That way, Klanxbüll became a sort of a Mecca for us both times we visited (in 2023 we even had an appartament by the railway station). For me, the general vibe of Klanxbüll is very simmilar to some of the railway stations on our Ostbahn from Kostrzyn to Tczew and further to Braniewo and Kaliningrad. Two tracks, no catenary, semaphore signals, even a red brick station building. There only is one difference - the amount of traffic :).

Anyways - I was very inspired by some shots I saw and decided that what I really wanted to have is this evening shot of an IC train with this distant signal referring to the Klanxbüll station. Mechanical distant signals are somewhat of a rarity in Poland because of many modernisations and so it seemed like a very attractive place for me. Besides that, the perfect evening light makes the scene a bit closer to ideal.
