Gear train, side view
Still loud, but no hiccups or stutters. Also of note in this video is the "pin lock": in the forefront is the sideways Technic pin with the flat top, which I can push in and out. When pushed in, it rides in the open rail of the big gear and (most importantly) "locks" it in place so it can't slide around when working on the MOC. This means that the two large yellow circles are now one unit, and the center piece attaches above this to the eventual Technic frame (only partially built here). SO much better for my stress and sanity in assembly/disassembly.
