Le Jeune homme au violon. Charles Théodose Godefroy (ca. 1734-35) “Oil on canvas, 67.5 x 74.5 cm” [Musée du Louvre, Paris, France] — Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin (French; 1699 - 1779)
Full title: Le Jeune homme au violon. Charles Théodose Godefroy (1718-1796), fils aîné du joaillier Charles Godefroy.
Adapted to serve as a counterpart to the Child with Toton, a slightly later image of the teenager's younger brother. Canvas no doubt commissioned by Charles Godefroy, jeweler and banker, father of the model (he probably owned the 2 Chardins today in Williamstown).
