Managing Sealed and Unsealed Local Roads
This workshop will address the new Rural Roads Specification system. It will highlight the new documents developed for the design, construction and maintenance of sealed and unsealed roads for low volume traffic. New reference documents like the Design reference and checklists, Construction reference and Schedules, TECHguides, TECHreports and TECHnotes will be discussed to support rural councils to develop their own specifications inhouse.
It will explain how these documents can be implemented at the council level, so that the rural councils can design, construct and maintain their road network. Manage the council gravel pits, improve locally available materials effectively and efficiently.
Regional and rural councils will find the new Rural Roads Specification system very useful to document the design, construction and maintenance of their road network. Using the appropriate information in this specification system and implementing various techniques recommended will significantly improve the structural integrity, safety and performance of sealed and unsealed roads and assist councils to better serve their communities.
