How Soon Is Now?
The sky went from a dirty gray and uninspiring 24,000 foot overcast to this explosion in about 3 minutes, quite unexpectedly. Thankfully our trek was in a westward direction across the flat expanse of central Illinois, so when the unexpected takes place, options to capture or enjoy are plentiful.
Had I even looked at the satellite I would not have thought the clearing line in west central Missouri would have been close enough to allow the sky to be set ablaze here.
As I was in the navigator's seat today, I hastened my driver to make a quick backtrack to this location and I fired away.
