A software programmed called a Hybrid App combines features from native and web apps. Hybrid apps use a WebView to serve HTML5 web apps inside a native container and are installed similarly to native apps. They combine functionality from both native and web apps. In order for standard HTML5 apps to take advantage of device functionalities that are often exclusive to the web browser, hybrid platforms like PhoneGap (also known as Cordova) offer up native APIs via JavaScript.
