Earlybird
There's a robin who comes early mornings to eat birdseed off my night table at our dacha. Mama likes to leave the windows open, so, instead of flying, the small red bird hops inside from the sea air to peck at the waiting birdseed, giving me a chirp or two for a greeting. The world can feel so big and dark, but here there's only the quiet, waking sun filtering through hazy curtains, warm quilts, the smell of mama's morning coffee, hushhhhhhh of the ocean, and a small bird friend. A perfect dacha daydream.
