19 Serpentine/Serpentinite, including Chrysotile (Asbestos)
Serpentinite is a rock composed primarily of minerals from the serpentine group. It forms where water reacts with mafic and ultramafic rocks (refer to the Igneous Rock Chart in Charts and Keys).
The rock is usually a mix of waxy, soapy-feeling and fibrous (the stuff of asbestos).
