Heat inactivated FBS (fetal bovine serum) at Universal BioProducts is made using industry-leading techniques. Blood is collected aseptically at slaughterhouses, centrifuged to isolate serum, and immediately frozen for analysis and further processing. The crude sera are then pooled using "True Pool" technology and sterile filtered. Each must then pass sterility tests, growth enhancement tests, test negative for mycoplasma, and a select number of industry-controlled viruses.
