"The abandoned gas station creaked with the wind, as if it still held the whispers of another era. The old taxi served as an improvised barricade, rusted yet loyal, like a tired dog that still wants to bite. Richard rested the bat on his shoulder, gripping it tightly as if his life depended on it. Haru, at his side, clung to him with the same desperation. The dying neon flickered, stubbornly refusing to go out, casting brief glimmers over the dust and rust. There was no music—only the heavy silence of an extinguished world, broken now and then by some metallic clang in the distance… as if someone —or something— was feeling its way through. In that lost corner, between dry gasoline and withered dreams, Richard expected no miracles. He swore to resist. Not because he believed in a better tomorrow, but because even at the end of the world, defending a shelter meant still being human."
