Alef's father was in the midst of fighting over the ruins of the Mist Palace, a strategic enclave to dominate the lowlands of the Fairelands. This had once been the palace of the Kings of the Fairelands, and since the fall of the last king and the removal of the court to The Clouded Mountains, the entire region had become a territory of fighting and looting. It was then that Alef took the opportunity to escape and start his adventures.
