Li River
Located in northwestern Guangxi, China, the Li River (or Li Jiang) flows 164 kilometers (102 miles) south through Guilin and Yangshuo. The river winds through rapids and shallows, past valleys, waterfalls, bamboo groves and lush forests. Thousands of visitors tour the river every year to enjoy the amazing views of the green karst hills and mountains. For hundreds of years the karsts have been the inspiration for Chinese paintings and carvings, but I found them ideal for landscape photography. This photo I captured is surprisingly similar to the 20 Yuan Chinese banknote (tinyurl.com/3r7ye3ym) that features a drawing of the scenic Li River.
