The technology behind FreeRADIUS includes a database to store user credentials, RADIUS dictionaries for defining attributes, an authentication and authorization engine, an accounting engine, a logging system, and various command line tools for configuring and managing the system. The system supports a variety of authentication methods such as PAP, CHAP, MS-CHAP, EAP, and more. It also supports various RADIUS attributes such as NAS-IP-Address, Service-Type, Framed-IP-Address, and more. Additionally, FreeRADIUS supports integration with other applications such as LDAP, SQL, and RADIUS proxies. It is also extensible and can be configured to support custom authentication methods and attributes.
