DP territory

There's not so much tangent stretch on CN Lac St-Jean subdivision. For years the track profile was used for training locomotive engineer on train handling. In 1996, a few BNSF Dash 9-44CW were borrowed in order to test the distributed power system over the tortuous Lac St-Jean subdivision. This led to CN's first acquisition of DP-fitted units from GE; Dash 9-44CW 2200 to 2205. For years these six units were kept in almost captive service between Garneau Yard and Jonquière. As time pass, standard CN Dash 9 were slowly fitted with DP capabilities along with the acquisition of newer units and those six refugees can now be seen all over the system.

Daily M369 is rounding an another curve between Rivière à Pierre and Rousseau, working in a 3+1 power configuration, moving tonnage toward Toronto's MacMillan Yard.
