Rath Yatra 2022
It is believed that Rath Yatra is the only occasion of the year when Jagannath, Lord of the Universe, comes out of the temple for his devotee.
The ritual takes place in adhik maas (extra month), which is meant to align the hindu lunar calendar to the solar year.
at that time of the year there is extreme heat and even the gods can't bear it, so they leave their temples and get out in the public to take a bath. but they get ill because of heat outdoors. after which they stay in recovery chamber called anasar ghar.
after recovery the appetite of gods return back to normal and then gods wish to visit their aunt's home called gundicha mandir and relive their childhood.
Gods set out in grand chariots in the city to visit their aunt. and this is from where rath yatra was is celebrated.
