Home?
A lot had changed since her last adventure. The little one was still running amongst the trees, getting filthy during play, and forever emotionally unbalanced, but something had changed. The girl no longer had to worry about when her next meal would come, or if she had a soft place to lay her head at night. At first, things were sort of tricky as she wasn't used to being bossed around or worried after in the way she now was. Soon she looked forward to the little things; like movie night, and hanging out with someone who wasn't another kid or a frog.
Today the imp was decorating her room, the girl smiled at the idea of having her own entire space, all for her and the various plushies that now lined the walls. There were tons of things to keep her entertained, her paints, dinosaurs, Harry Potter stuff, and various other little belongings that littered the colourful room and made it hers. Twiddling with the tag of one of the plushies, she read it out loud:
Intrigue Co. - Plushie Pals: Sandy the Baby Sea Turtle:
Birthday: November 6th
Legend has it the Earth is atop a turtle's shell,
Sandy will recite this as a fact known too well.
Her great-grandpa was the one behind the myth,
who bestowed longevity on his tribe as a gift.
She smiled at the words she had read and hopped down from the shelving. However, she lost her footing and skidded backward on the rough floor. "Shi-" she went to cuss, as that had hurt, but caught herself just in time for the door to open and the grown-up to walk in. This grown-up had a LOT of rules, one of them being that she couldn't say bad words hardly ever, which she felt was just super unfair being a practically grown-up eight-year-old. The girl wriggled to her feet and smiled as the woman sat in the rocking chair and beckoned her forward with a finger. Waiting no time at all, the little girl bounced over and crawled onto her lap, wrapping herself around sleepily and hardly complaining about bedtime at all, which she often did now... This was a big deal and it took a very long time for her to be comfortable enough to have any sort of physical contact with another grown-up. She looked up with a smile when the woman called her a 'Good Girl'. Was she a good girl? she wondered to herself as she rested her head and yawned, she could be pretty naughty sometimes... maybe this lady was crazy or something. She would have to think on it some more, but for right now her brain was turning to mush as she was snuggled and rocked comfortably. She allowed her eyes to drift closed as a hand brushed against her cheek and a murmured Goodnight was spoken quietly.
