1904 American La France Extra First Size
This 1904 American La France Extra 1st Size 1,100 gallon-per-minute steam-powered pumper is rare. I watched a very happy guy put kindling and wood into the firebox, heat the boiler, and pump it.
A similar, horse-drawn engine was demonstrated by The Three Stooges in 1938.
At the right end of that black suction hose is a small red seat where Moe would sit. If everything went according to plan, the horses would hitch to the bar going out of frame just above the wheels at right.
Art grade image: pumper was knocked out of the background. Some small parts were edited, including gold leaf striping. Otherwise, an accurate photo.
