Ridgecrest California T-39D 2023 Panorama 2

This is identified as a retired North American Aviation T-39D. It's parked on the grounds of the US Naval Museum of Armament and Technology, which is open to the public.

This aircraft is stored outdoors. Look at all the stuff that might get ingested into a jet engine. It's very windy in Ridgecrest so things you think of as heavy might get moved around by the wind.

A good looking aircraft, in my opinion. I think a Mirage 2000 might be my favorite on looks alone. (Sorry Lockheed and Boeing employees.)

Imagine you're in a car without headlights going 150 miles an hour down a dark narrow road toward a one-car garage illuminated by a single light bulb. If you get through the garage door, your car will stop automatically. And the garage is moving around. That's what the night [aircraft carrier] landing is like.
