Sherrington 18th Century Barns 1
Driving in Southern Quebec, I passed this incredible pair of 18th-century barns. The roof on the front one has caved in, and as the owner said, the cost is prohibitive to keep them standing. Unfortunately this means that they will be gone in a decade or two. I believe these are the oldest barns I have seen in Southern Quebec. Others that I have seen of this age have been restored, but these are mostly in their original condition, with wear of course. They are certainly well more than 200 years old, and the owner has been told by the locals that they are 300. If that is the case, that is exceptionally old for this region. The owner was very nice and gave me the run of the property, so the next photo is a closeup from the other end. www.flickr.com/photos/195136680@N07/52298455947/in/photos...
