Aegidienkirche -HANOVER
The Aegidien Church, named after Saint Giles to whom the church was dedicated, is a war memorial in Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony, Germany. The church dates from 1347, when it replaced an older Romanesque church dating from 1163. It was bombed in 1943 during World War II and was not rebuilt in order to leave it in memory of the victims of the war. Inside is the "peace bell" donated by the city of Hiroshima, with which Hanover is twinned.
