La casa dei Vettii è una domus di epoca romana, sepolta durante l'eruzione del Vesuvio del 79 e ritrovata a seguito degli scavi archeologici dell'antica Pompei tra il 1894 e 1896. E' così chiamata dal nome dei proprietari. Nel 2023, dopo 20 anni di lavori di restauro è riaperta al pubblico. La sala di Issione è un triclinio che si apre sul giardino. Sul fondo, è rappresentato il re Issione di fronte ad Era seduta in trono, che guarda la scena indicatale da Iside: Efesto è impegnato ad attivare la ruota a cui, per mano di Ermes e volere di Zeus, sarà legato Issione mediante dei serpenti. Il re tessalo, colpevole di avere tentato di oltraggiare Era, fu condannato a girare in eterno nella volta celeste. (Testo tratto da www.pompeionline.net)

It is so called from the name of the owners. In 2023, after 20 years of restoration work, it was reopened to the public. The room of Ixion is a triclinium that opens onto the garden. On the background, King Ixion is represented in front of Hera seated on the throne, who looks at the scene indicated to her by Isis: Hephaestus is engaged in activating the wheel to which, by the hand of Hermes and the will of Zeus, Ixion will be bound by means of snakes.
