CARSO - TRIESTE

Il Carso è un altopiano composto da rocce calcaree e si estende dall’Italia alla Croazia passando per la Slovenia. La fragilità delle sue pietre ha fatto sì che l’acqua, la pioggia in particolare, riuscisse a modellarlo nel corso dei secoli creando i cosiddetti “fenomeni carsici”.
Secondo un’antica leggenda della zona, quando Dio ebbe finito di creare il mondo si accorse di aver lasciato troppe pietre sparse in giro, così le raccolse all’interno di un sacco e incaricò l’Arcangelo Gabriele di gettarlo in mare. Mentre volava sopra il Carso, però, incuriosito dal contenuto, l’angelo aprì il sacco e tutti i sassi caddero trasformando per sempre l’intera zona.

The Karst is a plateau composed of limestone rocks and extends from Italy to Croatia passing through Slovenia. The fragility of its stones has meant that the water, the rain in particular, was able to shape it over the centuries, creating the so-called "karst phenomena".
According to an ancient legend of the area, when God had finished creating the world he realized that he had left too many stones scattered around, so he collected them inside a sack and instructed the Archangel Gabriel to throw it into the sea. While flying over the Carso, however, intrigued by the contents, the angel opened the sack and all the stones fell, transforming the whole area forever.
