Practical Skills
After coating the sculpture, I painter the tendons and muscle fibres using a deep cool red tone made by combining alizarin crimson, burnt umber and violet, whilst this coat was still wet, I used a boar bristle brush to remove some of this layer to ensure the previous layer was still visible beneath. I continued this technique on the mandible and interior of the neck and throat.
After this second coat had set, I once again coated the bust in clear gloss sealant to give the tendons and fibres that appearance of being wet with blood.
