Gnom at St. Sulpice

The present building was constructed on the site of an early Romanesque church from XIII century. The church is second largest in Paris after Notre Dame and it is dedicated to Sulpitius the Pious. Like anything else in this city, its history is intertwined with the history of peoples,Paris and France. Amongst notable events, one can list the baptism of Charles Baudelaire, Marquis de Sade or marriage of Victor Hugo to Adele Foucher as well as a funeral mass for the former President of France, Jacques Chirac. In addition to being a beautiful place of worship, notable works of art and science include murals by Eugene Delacroix, Gnom( constructed to determine the time of the equinoxes and therefore that of Easter), Holy Water font gifted to the king Francois I by the Venetian Republic and so on.
