The Dish at Stanford is a nature reserve. I think it gets its name from the radio telescopes that dot the landscape.
I was walking along the dish at sunset, when I noticed that the sun had aligned with one of the radio telescopes to cast a subtle shadow across the path. I knew my lens would create many-pointed sun-stars if I stopped it down, so I positioned myself at the edge of light and shadow along the path, took out my tripod, stopped the lens really far down and got the shot.
