GILMAN TUNNELS

One of two tunnels in a row on a one-lane portion of Forest Road 376 in the Jemez Mountains. This tunnel is approximately 125 feet long, and the south tunnel is approximately 100 feet long.

The tunnels were used for about two decades in the mid 1920s to transport logs from the Jemez Mountains using the Santa Fe Northwestern Railway. When the railway was discontinued the tunnels were converted for use by vehicles.

The tunnels were the location of several Hollywood films, including The Scorch Trials, The Lone Ranger, and 3:10 to Yuma.
