Cleaver-Class Frigate

Once the backbone of the Casian Federal Navy, The Cleaver-class frigate is no longer the most numerous vessel within the Service. Although it is now outdated, the Cleaver still carries an impressive amount of firepower. It has four heavy twin turrets, and four light Repeaters. Its twin propellers give it a respectable top speed, although they are notoriously difficult to perform maintenance on. In addition, its rear assembly is so cramped by the engines and props, that the steering rudders are unusually small, making this airship very sluggish despite its small size.

The Cleaver Class was a big part of the Casian response to the Blighting, serving as both fleet scouts and the primary fighting vessel of the Casian Militia. By that point, they were long in the tooth but not obsolete, and although losses of this airship type were high, their performance greatly helped the Allied Nations. Cyrenthian Workshops continued to build them in decreasing numbers right up to the start of the Continental War. The class' role in this war was significantly lesser than in the Feral War, as by this point they were quite obsolete and suffering from Mechanicum fatigue. No longer the mainstay of the Casian Federal Navy, having been replaced by the Dart-class, they were at this point found almost exclusively in the hands of smaller nations or the Casian Militia. They served primarily as patrol and rapid defensive response vessels during the Continental War, an undistinguished but vital role.

The Cleaver class was also known for being very cramped, and having terrible crew ergonomics. Many Clerics refused to serve aboard these ships because they lacked Holy rooms. As time went on, the poor Mechanicum quality of these ships became more and more pronounced, and there were calls to replace them with newer, more capable designs.

The few Cleaver-class airships left were either relegated to patrol duties, sold off to other nations and corporations, or given to Casian Militia units.
