Truck-Class Cargo Hauler
The Truck class. Lifeblood of the galaxy. Among the thousands of different hauler designs, both large and small, none can equal the sheer efficiency of the Truck. It has become nearly synonomous with the term "cargo ship." It is perphaps the single biggest reason for the succes of the Tracy-Nimmer Corporation. An extremely large, extremely cheap, extremely capable cargo ship, the Truck class does it all. With a cavernous hold with fast-loading and fast-discharge capability, the Tracy-Nimmer Corporate Design tean also patented a unique item that would contribute hugely to this desings singular success: disposable cargo container. Made out of widely available materials, the idea was that A Truck ship would show up at its destination, quickly unload all its containers, sometimes literally leaving them floating around in space, then leave for another delivery, leaving the local space authorities to collect the containers. What made this idea so attractive was that since the containers were so cheap, it wouldn't hurt the bottom line to simply abandon them to local authorities, who would presumbly scrap them for the raw materials. However, since these containers were property of the Corporation, they could charge for their use, therefore any scrapping induced a fee to the owner. If local authoritites decided they didn't want to pay the fee, the containers could pe picked up the next time a ship delivered to the system. Pre-packing cargo in the containers also significantly reduced loading times, since a system requesting delivery could rent the patent, build the containers and fill them up. The Truck would then arrive, load up, and leave. The Truck class also had a fairly unique feature: a parasite tug ship. This ship could be used to move containers for more complicated areas or deliveries, or assist in-system tugs. All in all, these features provided the galaxy with a truly first-class cargo ship, and a new way to trade that was much faster, more efficient, and more importantly, more profitable.
