Musk Lorikeet

Musk Lorikeet (Glossopsitta concinna), Melbourne, Victoria, south-eastern Australia. We encountered a small flock of these noisy birds by chance while out for a short drive one evening a few weeks ago. They were feeding on tree blossoms, and were sharing the tree with a couple of Rainbow Lorikeets which were desperately trying to defend their territory.

 

I saw a report of Musk Lorikeets being seen in the City of Hume local government area within a few days of this encounter, so perhaps the conditions and time of year were right for these birds to move through the area. My family has only seen them once before in the City of Hume area several years ago.

 

I managed a few shots from this session which I'll post in the future once they are processed.

 

I have not been able to use Flickr or post recently due to being extremely busy, but I hope to have more time again soon to post regularly.
