Shot with a SkyWatcher 800mm focal length retractor telescope and a ZWO 6200MM pro mono astro camera, on an Eq6-r pro mount. Narrowband filters from Antlia; 4,5nm Ha, SII and OIII. Approx. 12 hours integration time. 62mp. Contact me for prints :)
The California Nebula (NGC 1499/Sh2-220) is an emission nebula located in the constellation Perseus. Its name comes from its resemblance to the outline of the US State of California in long exposure photographs. It lies an estimated 1000 light years from earth. The colors come from the different gasses found in the nebula. Hydrogen alpha (golden),Sulfur (red´ish) and Oxygen (blue)
