New Orleans, Louisiana and Florida have experienced many natural disasters in the past three years, and as a result here in southeast Louisiana it is almost impossible to obtain reasonably priced property insurance, if at all. Many home owners have mortgages requiring insurance or face foreclosure. The last resort is Citizens insurance which is administered by the state and is very expensive. Most of the insurance companies have left New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. The float also pokes fun at our state insurance commissioner.
