Sapphire-vented Puffleg (Eriocnemis luciani)

Large hummingbird of the high Andes ranging from extreme southern Colombia south to Peru. Mostly found at the edge of humid forest.

 

This was one of 3 or 4 individuals watched feeding on the flowering shrubs around the main viewing area at the brilliant Zuro Loma reserve near Mindo (Pichincha/Ecuador).
